Alpine Lakes

Bonaparte Lake: Bonaparte Lake (160 acres): About 18 miles northeast of Tonasket, this year-around lake is stocked with kokanee, rainbows, lake trout (mackinaw) and brook trout. A resort is available. The latitude and longitude coordinates for this lake are 48.7932, -119.0612 and the altitude is 3556 feet (1084 meters) located in the Mount Bonaparte area. To reach Bonaparte Lake follow State Route 20 from Tonasket towards Republic and turn off on Bonaparte Lake Road. The lake sits below Mount Bonaparte and Spur Mountain in the Okanogan National Forest.

Ell Lake: 17 miles SE of Tonasket, 21 acre lake that holds rainbow. Public access available. The latitude and longitude coordinates for this lake are 48.6040, -119.1178 and the altitude is 2602 feet (793 meters) located in the Bailey Creek Area.

Leader Lake: (159 acres) Fishing should be fair to good for chunky rainbows on this lake 4 miles west of Okanogan. Heavy irrigation demands due to drought greatly decrease the water levels some summers. Trout survival can be affected, but expect those rainbows that survive to be in excellent shape and averaging about 12 inches. Boat launches, toilets, and camping available.

Long Lake is just to the north and Ell Lake (special regs) is just south. Each has an improved boat launch.
